Bridge builder Program

PRACHODANA worked as a hosting organization for the bridge builders program in Hassan. The Bridge Builder program enables a cultural exchange for German volunteers with India supported and guided by the KKS NGO in Germany and the coordinating KKF NGO in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is powerd by the weltwaerts program of the German government.

So far, we hosted 10 exchanges with Germany (2 volunteers each) for the cultural exchange program. Volunteers live for 8 months at our hostels, learn and exchange their experience about Indian culture, Indian marriage system, Indian festivals, food practices and other topics. Throughout the stay mentors coach the volunteers as their contact person.

Tasks and functions for German volunteers are:

• sharing the daily routine of the children in our hostels
• assist our teachers and educators
• give extra tuition classes to children and youth especially in English and Mathmatics
• plan workshops on society or environmental topics
• create material for activites with the children
• plan creative freetime activites for afterschool hours or weekends of the children
• support PRACHODANA with preparations for festivals and field trips
• support PRACHODANA with documentation work and office tasks or with video documentation
