Somashekar grew up in Hassan district in a financially insecure family. Due to poor family economic conditions his parents were struggling to support their son's education.

When field workers from the PRACHODANA organization came to know about the situation of Somashekar struggling for schooling, they convinced his parents to continue his education in Bridge School. The Bridge School program provides education, food and boarding facility (shelter) for children in need.

The boy was given admission in PRACHODANA organization Bridge School in 2004 where he started continuing his education in  4th class. Somashekar was a very good child with the urge to study. In 2010 he completed his SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) with 54% in Sri Siddartha Government High School.

Due to his  interest in technical courses, he continued his education by applying to ITI (Industrial Training Institute). In government ITI college he was trained in Fitter Trade for 2 years. There he successfully completed the training with the passing marks of 70%.

After completing his training course, the Toyota Kirloskar automobile company held campus interviews at his college and selected Somashekar out of 60 trainees. He got employed and worked for 4 years in Bangalore. Afterwards he thought about self-employment.

With the savings from his earnings at Toyota he then bought his own new passenger Auto Rickshaw and started working self-employed as a driver. Nowadays he earns ₹ 30,000 to 35,000 per month. Now he is financially independent and taking good care of his family.
